The Counselor Aide provides quality direct patient care to individuals with chemical dependency problems or those with co-occurring disorders of mental illness and chemical dependency disorders. Primary responsibilities include group and individual education, crisis intervention, treatment plan interventions, provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, and activities of daily living.

Education: Associates or Bachelors Degree in psychology or related field highly preferred; or high school diploma with one year relevant experience in the psychiatric or chemical dependency treatment field.

Experience: Six months experience working with a psychiatric or chemical dependency patient population preferred.

Knowledge: Must possess knowledge of therapeutic relationship processes, CD/12-Step group processes, age-specific growth and development, limit setting, behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors and CPR training.
