Job Summary:

The Director of Loss Mitigation is responsible for overseeing the Special Assets and Collections Groups. This position will work as a member of the Credit Risk Management leadership team and assist the Chief Credit Officer in monitoring and managing the credit risk within the loan portfolio. The Director of Loss Mitigation is responsible for the Credit administration of Northwest's criticized and classified assets, Classified Asset review and impairment analysis, as well as oversight of the Bank's retail and commercial collections activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Supports values-driven credit culture that stresses asset quality over short-term profitability and growth
  • Remains current on all credit-related rules and regulations and promotes a culture of compliance within all areas of responsibility
  • Member of Senior Management Team with the responsibility of contributing to the spirit of cooperation and mutual respect in the interest of meeting Northwest's goals and objectives
  • Develops performance metrics for areas of responsibility to track improvement with an objective of improving efficiency
  • Maintains adherence to the Credit Risk Policy and Classified Asset Policy
  • Advises Commercial and Retail Lending on changes or updates to lending policies
  • Supervises activities related to the administration of the Bank's criticized and classified assets.
  • Provides direction and support to credit underwriting and holds approval authority for criticized and classified assets.
  • Interfaces with internal and external auditors and examiners on matters related to credit risk management.
  • Provides oversight and support for the preparation of the relevant parts of the ALLL using a well-defined and consistently applied process; primarily assessing and measuring individual impairment (ASC-326).
  • Develops and maintains the Classified Asset Policy and Collection Policy
  • Chairmanship of the Classified Asset Committee
  • Ensure compliance with Northwest's policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations
  • Navigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department in order to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency
  • Work as part of a team
  • Work with on-site equipment
  • Complete other projects, tasks, and assignments as required by management

Education + Work Experience preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or related
  • 12-15 years of experience in commercial lending, credit administration, credit underwriting, loan review, and/or special assets
