The Security Lieutenant provides leadership, oversight, and delegates responsibilities to Security Sergeant (shift supervisors) and Security Officer personnel. Responsible for the safety and security of all Jefferson employees, students, visitors, staff and property. Coordinates patrols and enforcement in all areas on campus and the protection of persons and property. Ensures compliance to policies, procedures, and the authority by the University. The armed Lieutenants will respond to all serious incidents on campus and take the appropriate action in accordance with Federal, State, Local and Organizational laws and policy.

Responsibilities:

1. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson New Job Description.

2. Supervises and evaluates Security Sergeant and Officer personnel performance. Assures all employees are adequately trained, properly equipped and physically fit for duty and to carry out assignments. Coordinates and approves all reports, special assignments, attendance, days off, and in-service training. Initiates disciplinary code procedures for violations of conformance to security policy regulations. Updates policy and procedure manuals and distribution.

3. Oversees the investigation and reporting on all criminal complaints and offenses committed on Jefferson property. Ensures that sensitive information remains confidential.

4. Monitors CCTV, computerized access control, emergency and medical alarm systems.

5. Assigned to security details, VIP protection and crowd control for special events, and on-campus escorts. Interacts with law enforcement authorities for special events.

6. Interacts with local police, District Attorney, or other law enforcement agencies relative to criminal offenses and complaints, and when subpoenaed testifies in court litigation proceedings.

7. Consults and advises crime victims focusing on quot;due processquot; or methods of reporting crimes to the appropriate authorities (police, District Attorney, etc.) and/or to initiate arrest warrants as necessary.

8. Provides assistance as a member of the Emergency Response Team in events such as: fires, bomb threats, explosions, or other life threatening or crime relate

High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education and/or training required; 3+ years of related experience required. Associatersquo;s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.

Minimum of two yearsSecurity experience or prior Law Enforcement or Military experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Act 235 certification required.
