The Midwifery amp; Womenrsquo;s Health programs at Thomas Jefferson University is on the cutting edge of a changing world. By weaving tradition with vision, we offer our students education for the betterment of the health of women and individuals, their families, and communities. Situated within the College of Health Professions, our academic programs include MS-Midwifery, MS-Midwifery Completion, Doctor of Midwifery, Graduate Certificate, and Re-Entry to Clinical Practice. We also offer dual admission to applicants of the accelerated nursing program at Jefferson (FACT+MS) and to applicants of the MS in Midwifery and Doctor of Midwifery (MS+DM).

The Midwifery amp; Womenrsquo;s Health programs at Thomas Jefferson University is currently accepting applications for a full-time faculty member at the Assistant amp; Associate Professor rank. As a faculty member, you will assume responsibility for a variety of activities related to the education of midwifery students such as: teaching online and in on-campus simulation, student advising, clinical oversight, student evaluation, and curriculum development. This position will include clinical education activities for the Master prepared candidate or Doctoral education for the doctorally prepared candidate. All full-time faculty members are expected to provide service to the University by serving on a committee, and assist with ongoing midwifery program activities.

Through our innovative model of online education, we provide students a reliable, flexible and user-friendly method for learning and communication. We offer students periodic, required on-campus intensives where cohorts of students come together with faculty for learning in Jeffersonrsquo;s state of the art simulation center. Real-time web-meetings allow for course dialogue, clinical supervision, and program and faculty development. Learning is an active process, therefore, our graduate curriculum emphasizes breadth and depth of reading for meaning, evaluation of evidence for care, seminar discussion, writing in the discipline, clinical immersion, and real-world projects for knowledge acquisition, application, and synthesis.

Qualified candidates will be graduates of a midwifery education program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board, and hold a graduate degree in midwifery or a related discipline. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, thrive in a team, and be willing to lead projects. Teaching and scholarship experience preferred. Applicants interested in funded research will also be considered. Clinical practice is possible up to one day per week. While our programs are primarily on-line, this position requires the successful candidate to be geographically located in or near Philadelphia as the position requires the candidate to be intermittently physically present on-campus. Applicants who live in or plan to relocate to New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania will be considered. Philadelphia is a vibrant city with myriad cultural attractions, yet within a 2 hour drive of farmland, mountains and beaches.
