Primary Responsibilities:
* Conduct surveillance into matters related to Asset Protection, including the detection and
apprehension of suspected shoplifters and perpetrators of various types of fraud. Maintain
Divisional and Regional productivity standards
* Conduct interviews and collect the necessary evidence and documentation for the
preparation of a complete investigation to include internal (Team Member) and vendor
investigations as assigned
* Assist store teams with training on systems relevant to Asset Protection (ex: Everseen,
Purchek & Gatekeeper)
* Provide Store Teams training on internal Asset Protection applications (ex: Shrink Trax,
Lanehawk & Profitect)
* Represent the company in court as required and serve as a liaison with various law
enforcement agencies in criminal investigations
* Prepare and submit electronic incident reports for all incidents in a timely fashion
* Confer with Asset Protection Manager and Store Operations Management on incident
details and case status
* Monitor CCTV systems to ensure proper working order. Train store management on use of
CCTV as needed
* Conduct Asset Protection Focus Walks
* Complete Asset Protection hardware maintenance (keys & cores) as needed
* Analyze POS (Point of Sales) and Veribalance information supplied by Data Mining to
assist in investigations
* Maintain knowledge of store emergency policies and assist in the department's response to
security incidents and crisis situations
* Analyze shoplifting or potential theft situations. React in a manner which effectively
protectscompany assets without incurring liability. Errors in judgment (i.e., wrongful
apprehension) could lead to litigation that causes the Brand significant liability. The
serious nature of the work is such that the incumbent could be terminated for making a
"bad stop." Incumbents represent the company in courts of law, and testifying in cases,
and so are challenged to remain composed. A high amount of concentration and
resourcefulness is needed daily
* Dealing with people possessing weapons or who may be under the influence of alcohol or
controlled substances. Incumbents must be able to use reasonable force to defend
themselves and control violent or aggressive individuals
* Observing and recording the facts as they occur is the highest priority. Incumbents
frequently observe crimes in progress and must react instantly and appropriately. Must be
able to change priorities at a moment's notice to respond to emergency situations.
Accuracy is critical to success in this position
* Apprehend shoplifters, dishonest team members and vendors who were observed
committingthefts. Work with the police to determine the identity of shoplifters from past
thefts and file charges with the police
* Decisions about internal incidents (Team Member investigations) and scheduling changes
shouldbe referred to the Asset Protection Manager. Work in conjunction with the Asset
Protection Manager to investigate dishonest team members and vendors. Incumbent
would observe and report facts to the Asset Protection Manager
* There is minimal supervision on a day-to-day basis. The incumbent must be able to work
independently and exercise critical thinking and good judgment. Incumbent must
demonstrate productivity and apprehend shoplifters on a consistent basis without Asset
Protection Manager supervision.

* Frequent travel between store locations is required and effective time management is
essential
