Job Title: Cycle Counter

Department: Production Support

Classification: Non-Exempt


Summary: The Cycle Counter is responsible for monitoring warehouse inventory and performing cycle counting duties to ensure that all materials are properly verified and reflective of reported inventory. This will include conducting daily cycle counts necessary to ensure the accuracy of inventory records in the ERP system and analysis to determine the root cause of inventory discrepancies.

This position works with the appropriate departments to ensure proper adjustments are made to inventory records on a timely basis.


The Cycle Counter suggests and helps to implement corrective actions necessary to resolve problems and provides cycle count performance reports. Duties also include miscellaneous stores/stockroom activities to maintain inventory accuracy through proper processing of material receipts, transfers, and issues.


Responsibilities: As the Cycle Counter you will:

  • Cycle count raw materials, packaging materials, finished goods, and non-conforming materials daily based on the established United Safety cycle count process and procedures.
  • Utilize a forklift to move material, remove parts from packaging, use a scale to weigh count parts and count parts that are stored on the production lines.
  • Record the date that each part is counted in a cycle count database.
  • Ensure materials are in proper locations.
  • Conduct searches to locate misclassified inventory.
  • Report discrepancies of over/under amounts and any damaged products.
  • Complete appropriate United Safety cycle count forms and submit to accounting for adjustment.
  • During counts, confirm that all parts are labeled with the correct part number, description, and quantity per container, PO number and date received.
  • Communicate and develop process enhancements as needed.
  • Work with Material Handlers to keep the warehouse clean and organized.
  • Assist in maintaining safe and effective storage practices.
  • Publish weekly and quarterly inventory metrics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

You're a great fit for this position if this describes you;

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of work experience in an inventory control or material handling position in a manufacturing assembly environment; other relevant experience will be considered.
  • 3+ years of experience with computerized manufacturing/inventory software desirable.
  • Able to learn computer software for inventory control required.
  • Knowledge of computerized business systems, Excel, Word, email, and general personal computer skills.
  • Aptitude for numbers with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Logical and business aptitude to understand how inventory transactions impact the system inventory record.
  • Accurate and strong organizational skills.
  • Able to plan and execute workload in coordination with production requirements.
  • Effective prioritization to meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Performing basic shop math calculations (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying, measuring and converting decimals) is something you are experienced in.
  • Must be training in or able to train in order to drive a forklift.
  • Able to understand and communicate material movement and accounting transactions.
  • Able to effectively present results of analysis in written and graphical format.
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs and stand for up to 12 hours per day when necessary.
  • Excellent written communications skills, including the use of proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar to produce error-free copy, particularly composing letters, reports and documents used for decision making.
  • Outstanding verbal communication skills including tact and diplomacy which would be utilized during customer service, conflict management, development of relationships with internal and external contact.
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced, team environment, with time constrains while responding to change favorably and quickly.
