Under immediate supervision of nurse coordinator in Medication Assisted Treatment program for pregnant and parenting opioid dependent women, the Medical Services Clinician will support medical department needs by providing health promotion and education in group and one on one settings, managing medical charts, medication administration and documentation, triaging health concerns of women in treatment and their children as needed, overseeing compliance of women in treatment clients for all necessary appointments, tracking statistics, general filing, organizing and refining systems of documentation and reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage the security of all medications on site. Safe practice of all dispensing duties and medication administration with designated system as indicated by supervisor and appropriate documentation. Safe practice of medication destruction and management of all refused medications. Safe practice of managing all prescriptions and updates or new orders.
  • Manage required patient medical information, primarily State and Federal requirements for treatment. Create medical chart and acquire documentation of annual treatment requirements from a variety of sources including electronic and paper and schedule for these requirements. Will establish, record and maintain compliance,and prepare for discharges or transfers.
  • Be a therapeutic support staff to all women in treatment Support the therapeutic models of treatment for all women, attend and engage in all treatment team meetings and debriefings as indicated to provide/receive updates and information on patient status, new admissions, discharges, compliance, and other concerns and pertinent data.
  • Assist with scheduling all medical appointments and communicate appointments to the patient and staff appropriately. Utilize JeffChart, Jeff Signature and IDX/EMR for data retrieval, medication records, appointment verification and scheduling.
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the iSCORE values of Jefferson

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED required. Associates degree preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION:
  • Licensed Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • CPR BLS certification
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Previous experience in the medical or substance abuse setting preferred.
