YOUR IMPACT

CHA's experts have decades of experience planning, designing, and permitting electrical power delivery infrastructure, including overhead and underground transmission lines and substations. We've designed hundreds of transmission, distribution, and customer-owned substations and switching stations (15kV up to 300 MVA transmission stations). We've also designed mobile transformers and substations up to 25 MVA and 161kV.

The Substation Engineer III will play a key role in electrical substation design for our clients. The right candidate will demonstrate skill in the preparation of equipment arrangement and station layouts including conduit plans and details, grounding plans and details, lighting, and lightning protection design. This role will also be responsible for preparation of major equipment specifications, vendor equipment reviews, and detailed Bill of Materials for both brownfield and greenfield high voltage substations.

An individual with extensive knowledge of both AIS and GIS substation design who is self-motivated, demonstrates a willingness to learn, and enjoys collaboration would be a great fit for CHA's Electric Transmission Team!

REQUIREMENTS
    Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Power Systems or Electrical Engineering is required
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience is required
  • Proficient in engineering, computational, and modeling software including AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences
  • Desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist more senior staff
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required
  • Participation in a professional engineering society/organization is preferred
