UPMC Community Medicine Incorporated is hiring a full time Physician Assistant (PA) to help support an orthopedic department. This growing practice currently has ten physicians across different specialties and a team of ten Advanced Practice Providers. The PA in this position will be responsible for being in the OR several times a week, holding outpatient clinic hours, and potential rounding in the hospitals. The PA in this position will be based in Pittsburgh, PA but travel may be needed. The schedule for this PA will be 8-hour shifts, Monday - Friday with the possibility of needing to cover a Saturday shift about twice a year. On call is not required for this position. The Staff APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Staff APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration and supervision. The Staff APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Staff APP begins to demonstrate a commitment to the community and to their healthcare profession.

Minimum 3 years of experience or Completion of a post-graduate residency??
The successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner?or?a?graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) program is?required?
BS or MS preferred for PA?
Completion of National Certification??
Must achieve a Solid/Strong/Good performance rating or higher on annual performance evaluation for consideration and to maintain status annually?
Completion of an OAPP approved professional contribution within one year of hire or promotion into the position.??
Must have department chair approval for promotion?
Demonstration of clinical precepting of one APP student per calendar year for at least two years or evidence of ongoing education of APP students or demonstrate a meaningful contribution to student education??
ACLS or?ITLS or?NALS or?PALS or?ACLS or other certifications listed must meet AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.??
OAPP: If practicing in an outpatient or other non-inpatient setting, APPs can use one of the certifications above or use?a?business unit approved certification which is?relevant?and value added to the practice setting.?
