Job Summary:
This mid-level to advanced position serves as an organizational leader. Leadership involves responsibilities in three main areas: technical, personnel and processes.Requirements:
Bachelors or master's degree in medical technology, Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science.
Required clinical experience is dependent upon degree. Clinical experience refers to hospital or reference laboratory, testing human samples only. Research experience is not accepted. Clinical lab experience must be pertinent.
PhD +2 years clinical experience
MS +4 years clinical experience.
BS in MT +6 years clinical experience
BS +7 years clinical experience
Demonstrated leadership experience

Minimum of 22 semester credit hours in college-level chemistry coursework including coursework and labs:
General Chemistry I & II (8 credits)
Organic Chemistry I & II (8 credits)
Two, 3-semester hr courses from the following possibilities: Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Informatics, Instrumental Analysis, Mass Spectrometry, Quantitative Analysis, Separation Science, Spectroscopic Analysis, Biochemistry, Drug Metabolism, Forensic Toxicology, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, Physiology, Toxicology
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Schedules all resources required for efficient day-to-day operations, including requests for time off
Staffing, training, career development, and performance management for direct reports
Reviews SOPs and methods
Maintains the respective lab department(s) in a state of acceptable inspection readiness to meet applicable regulatory agency standards
Investigates and resolves non-conformities, providing retraining/remediation as needed
Monitors equipment, quality controls, and reagent performance
Coordinates and supervises validation of projects including method improvements and new tests.
Reviews financial statements and supports profitability initiatives
Strategic planning
Coordinates laboratory services with other supervisors
Supervises other technical areas as needed
Lead or participate in a Functional Team
Serves as a backup to the Director of Operations in a supervisory capacity if needed
Maintains regular and reliable attendance
Other duties as assigned
Ability to read, write, and understand the English language
Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex technical data, procedures, and instructions in verbal, written, mathematical or diagrammatical form
Knowledge of laboratory safety practices
Ability to appropriately handle technical and clinical inquiries or complaints
Ability to define and resolve problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Ability to make effective speeches/presentations to management, public groups and/or scientific forums

Familiarity with law enforcement and forensic science disciplines of Drug Identification and/or forensic toxicology.

Ability to travel as needed for court testimony.
Exposure to intermittent or constant sounds generated by equipment
