Job Description

About the Position: The Curriculum and Academics Specialist - Science is dedicated to providing support to the Curriculum and Academics Team, specifically supporting K-12 students and teachers in all divisions and on all programs with a focus on WorldStrides science programs. This position serves as the primary support for curriculum development, online academics, field materials and training, program standards alignment, and registrar clerical responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Regular curriculum writing and revision
  • Management of science supply inventory
  • Creation and revision of science curricular materials for internal and external clients
  • Coordinate field educator trainings with science operations team and external partners
  • Daily grading of online student coursework
  • Ongoing maintenance of our dynamic learning management system
  • Development and maintenance of academic materials, including standards alignment documents, course syllabi, and online course snapshot resources
  • Proactive communication with field staff (course leaders, tour directors and others)
  • Weekly processing of teacher professional development certificates with state-specific requirements
  • Weekly processing of student academic transcripts and certificates of completion
  • Collaboration across departments and divisions regarding online course enrollment, sales support, and program updates
  • Communication by email and phone with internal and external clients
  • Creation of content for online portals and promotional websites for WorldStrides' client-facing sites
  • Participation in monthly drift check / assessment reliability meetings

  • Minimum Master of Education or Master of Teaching
  • Bachelor of Science
  • Current teaching licensure
  • 6-12th grade classroom teaching experience in science-related field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science)
  • Online instruction experience
  • Curriculum development experience
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and mission-centered decision-making
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to respond to internal and external client requests in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to analyze and solve problems at both a strategic and functional level
  • Flexibility between collaborative teamwork and independent self-pacing
  • Ability to remain focused and self-motivated
  • Strong professional communication skills, both written and verbal; attentive proofing and editing skills
  • Acute attention to detail, organization, documentation, effective time management, and prompt follow-up
