Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Head of Purchasing, are to:

  • Lead a high-performance team that embraces continuous improvement principles and collaboration to deliver desired financial and operational results;
  • Challenge legacy ways of working using constructive techniques that support company growth and digitization aspirations;
  • Be responsible for generating the best buying process to balance total delivered costs, customer service levels, and inventory results;
  • Manage all site Buying activities while balancing fluctuating demands to meet the financial and operational goals of the CH-PS Myerstown Supply Center, and the Consumer Health Division;
  • Lead and develop together with procurement collaboration programs with strategic suppliers;
  • Look for ways of improving working capital and strengthening relationships with suppliers;
  • Maintain an efficient organizational design for all functional areas under management;
  • Support site objectives, strategies, and policies;
  • Maintain compliance with cGMPs (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) and the regulations of the following agencies DEA (U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency), DOT (U.S. Department of Transportation), U.S.;
  • Drive functional continuous improvement programs;
  • Lead and participate in Special Projects that impact supply and inventories;
  • Ensure functional compliance to all Bayer Directives and Government regulations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or engineering another related field with at least 10 years' of experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, Product Supply; or a Master's Degree and at least five years of SCM experience; or, an Associates degree with at least 15 yrs of SCM experience;
  • At least six years of direct supervisory experience, including demonstrated ability to attract and develop talent and build teams;
  • An excellent understanding of Supply Chain Management, End to End, and the interrelation with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Finance, and other functional areas;
  • Experience in an FDA regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment;
  • Be proficient with SAP and the PP/DS and SNP modules within SAP or APO;
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, management, communication, and decision-making skills;
  • Customer focus, including demonstrated continuous improvement projects;
  • Proven organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills to appropriately balance short-term business demands.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Production Management (APICS/C.P.I.M) or Procurement (ISM/CPSM).
