Job Description

Nature and Scope

The Medical Science Liaison will serve as a key information resource and subject matter expert in supporting medical strategies for American Regent product(s).

The MSL for the Mid-Atlantic is responsible for the following territory: NJ, PA, MD, DE, WV, VA. Must live within the territory near a major airport.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Builds and develops enduring trusted partnerships through scientific engagement and exchange with KOL's and health care providers (HCPs) at the national, regional and local level

  • Regularly collects and interprets medical insights and feedback gathered from scientific exchange with thought leaders or medical congresses attended and effectively communicates relevant information to internal stakeholders in order to define, update, and support medical strategies

  • Acts as a scientific advisor regarding approved products for American Regent as assigned

  • Develop and maintain peer-to-peer collaborations and relationships with key medical experts in Anemia related therapeutic areas

  • Support the medical community with up-to-date medical information, robust disease expertise, and product information

  • Provide scientific information regarding on and off-label use of company products as requested by health care providers

  • Respond to drug information inquiries from customers and healthcare professionals to establish and/or further the knowledge of division's products and their appropriate use; when necessary, assist in resolving issues pertaining to that use

  • Identify educational needs and research opportunities and implement tactics to support scientific needs.

  • Assist with content development for internal/external education and/or use by MSL for field activities as assigned

  • Work with department manager to develop and maintain strategic call plan to effectively achieve company objectives and goals

  • Identify key clinical meetings on local, state and national level

  • Collect and report competitive intelligence within company guidelines.

Education Requirements

  • Advanced accredited degree in a health science related field.MD, PharmD, PhD, NP, DNP, PA preferred.

  • BSN accepted with 5+ years industry experience in an MSL role

Qualifications

  • 1+ years Medical Science Liaison experience within a pharmaceutical or biotech company under the Medical Affairs department

  • Candidate must have an understanding of compliance considerations and demonstrate ability to work compliantly in a field-based role, within the medical organization

  • Well versed in highly technical and scientific language in order to communicate effectively with health care professionals, researchers and other external and internal stakeholders

  • Possess superior communication and presentation skills

  • Energetically embraces responsibilities and demonstrates ability to achieve goals

  • Has strong initiative, and functions well as part of a cross-functional team and a proactive team player, flexible and has the ability to work in ambiguous situations

  • Requires extensive understanding of the company's products, commercialization strategy, the competition, and the pharmaceutical industry in general.

  • Previous anemia management, IV iron, hematology, cardiology, or nephrology, experience preferred, but not required.

  • Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Ability to make decisions independently and with appropriate input

  • Ability to take feedback constructively and consider the viewpoints of others

  • Flexibility in adapting to multiple therapeutic areas interchangeably

  • Strong computer skills with demonstrated experience in working with the Microsoft suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Physical Environment and Requirements

  • Field based

  • Must be willing to travel up to 70% of the time

  • Required travel to medical conferences, team meetings, and other group meetings that may require some weekends
