Job Description

Join the high impact, high visibility PS Commercial Planning and Strategy Team for Personal Systems (PS). The PS Commercial Planning and Strategy team is responsible for identifying market /business insights and developing recommendation on the investment priorities for Commercial Systems by working very closely with executives (Functional Vice Presidents and General Managers) and working teams (Directors, Senior Managers, etc.). In this role, you will identify and evaluate market / business insights impacting Commercial Systems, support development of strategies to achieve long-term financial goals, assess organic and inorganic opportunities, and align the organization on key priorities.

As a Business Strategy and Planning Manager, you can look forward to:

  • Identifying major shifts in the ecosystem impacting Commercial Systems and uncover opportunities for reassessing strategy choices
  • Assessing and developing strategies and recommendations to unlock new growth or optimization opportunities within Commercial Systems' current business areas (including business cases) and influence executives and teams to take action on your recommendations
  • Developing and share a point of view on relevance of different businesses within Personal Systems to support overall strategy
  • Providing strategic advice on investment priorities for organic and inorganic investment required to realize PS Strategy with a goal to maximize overall shareholder value
  • Conducting strategic deep dives in new and emerging business areas - Mobility, Cloud, Services, Internet-of-Things, Analytics, Edge Computing - with the objective of accelerating growth in chosen areas of investment
  • Supporting annual strategic long-term planning process that establishes business financial plans for 1-3 years
  • Providing strategic advice to PS executives regarding targeted growth, operational efficiency, and capital strategy initiatives

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Problem Solving: Approaching problems in a rational manner using sound strategies that ensures comprehensive understanding and effective resolution; leverages data-driven-insight approach
  • Strategic Planning & Implementation: Supporting the development of strategic plans that reflects HP's business strategy to advance market share/penetration and achieve profitable growth
  • Business and Financial Acumen: Exhibiting business and financial acumen to develop meaningful business recommendations; Ability to "connect the dots" between business strategy, operational plans and financial performance
  • Leadership and project management: Contributing effectively in a complex environment, and delivering results; Able to influence without direct authority; Able to balance between competing priorities and be flexible and creative
  • Team building: Working well in a highly matrixed organization
  • Communication: Communicating effectively across multiple levels in HP

Basic Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience developed in a management consulting, investment banking, technology or corporate environment (including exposure to financial / DCF modelling and organic growth strategy)
  • Experience leading business planning at a corporate/business level
  • Experience delivering results with large-scale, cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Experience in technology industries preferred
  • MBA highly desired, or advanced university degree
