In order to address the most critical needs of our clients, RSM US LLP has established the Security and Privacy Services group, comprised of more than 150 professionals dedicated exclusively to serving the cyber security needs of our clients. This group includes experienced consultants located throughout the country dedicated to helping clients with preventing, detecting, and responding to security threats that may affect their critical systems and data. We serve a diverse client base within a variety of industries, and we are relied upon to provide expertise within areas of security testing, architecture, governance, compliance, and digital forensics.

We are seeking individuals with polished technical writing skills to supplement our field consultants with the role of translating highly technical output from automated and manual assessment methods into terminology appropriate for client business and risk management executives. The Technical Writer is the position that acts as the conduit of information between external resources and our consultants. The Technical Writer's primary role is to create reports and other collateral for external consumption.

Responsibilities will be based on background but will typically include:

Work with Lead, Senior, and Management Consultants to produce multiple unique reports on a weekly basis. Reports should be accurate, clear, concise, and actionable for clients, and meet specific, regular deadlines. This includes:

  • Interviewing consultants for additional information and recommendations to provide added value to clients within the reports
  • Developing methods to present information more visually, including screenshots, original charts, tables, and graphs by working with consultants and graphic artist
  • Attending pre- and post-assessment planning meetings, taking notes to incorporate into reports
  • Co-author industry specific whitepapers, case studies, and blog entries with various RSM personnel.
  • Support Sales and Marketing writing efforts, as needed, including working with Sales to write sales proposals.
  • Develop and continuously improve the RSM proprietary knowledge base, working with Quality Assurance
  • Create presentations for project closing meetings based on final reports for specific audiences including high-level executives

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Preferable major of English, Communications, or a similar related technical field. Master's degree highly desired.
  • One to three years' experience developing technical content
  • Demonstrated ability to understand technical topics
  • Experience coordinating with and incorporating input from multiple sources, including SMEs, peers and editors
  • Experience completing multiple projects simultaneously, on time and with minimal direct supervision
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Visio and Project a plus.
  • Professional editing and proofreading experience is desirable
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or Acrobat is highly desirable
  • Experience completing multiple projects simultaneously on time and with minimal direct supervision
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Visio and Project a plus
  • Experience in or with information security industry a plus
