Thomson Reuters is looking for a highly motivated, energetic and goal driven Release Engineer with demonstrated experience in build, assembly, configuration, and delivery of source in a distributed environment. Excellent Linux and Windows background, producing or improving release automation is a plus. The candidate must be comfortable working in an Agile environment, have a "can-do" attitude, work well in a cross-functional environment with minimal supervision. He/she should be a self-starter, quick learner and a great team player.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build, assemble, configure and deliver source in a multi-tier environment
  • Communication and coordination with external customers
  • Support developers, QA, and Operations on internal and production client environments
  • Develop, improve and document release automation process
  • Create and maintain internal and external (client) environment diagrams, documentation, and specifications
  • Participate in the client deployment process
  • Perform and support release activities including after business hours and on weekends

Basic Requirements:

  • Experience managing Microsoft Azure (or equivalent) infrastructure, including network security groups, application gateways, virtual machines, databases, storage, and backups
  • Experience with Ansible and/or Ansible Tower, including creating and maintaining playbooks and managing dynamic host inventories
  • Minimum of 5 years of Windows and Linux administration experience is preferable
  • Minimum of 3 years of Apache Tomcat experience is preferable
  • Minimum 3 years of database admin experience with Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle is preferable
  • Experience with build/releasing software in a J2EE environment
  • Working knowledge of SCM (software configuration management) best practices and applications
  • Experience using scripting and markup languages (e.g. YAML, Perl, Groovy, etc.)
  • Experience with automated builds (e.g. Jenkins), deployments to multiple environments as well as set up monitors to ensure availability of systems
  • Experience with Git
  • Application troubleshooting, ability to determine root causes based on log output
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving skills, and attention to detail; production support experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and experienced with working effectively in cross-functional teams
