PURPOSE:

The Machinist I will operate to cut and shape all types ofmetals using manual (e.g. lathes, millers ), EZ Track computerizedmachine shop equipment. Works from blueprints, process sheets andsketches to perform production tasks. Checks and inspects machiningoperations against specified tolerances.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works from blueprints and written or verbal ideas in order tofabricate.
• Checks machinery and tooling as necessary in order to maintaincritical dimensions.
• Reads blueprints and/or works from written and verbalinstructions to manufacture parts to tolerances.
• May file and/or deburr individual or small lot productionpieces as necessary to meet required specifications.
• Checks own work by setting up and operating precisionmeasuring equipment such as micrometers, gauge blocks and heightstand, etc.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma (or equivalent)
• 2 years' experience as a machinist
• 2 years' experience working on Bridgeport milling machines
• 2 years Lathe experience
• Math skills including trigonometry and geometry
• Must be able to prove US Citizenship

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2-5 years' experience machining
• 2-5 years working on milling and lathe machines
