Job Description
Position Summary:  This position envisions product development and manages the software engineering function.  Analyzes, designs and develops software enhancements and new modules.  The software engineering manager has authority for software development from initial design through testing across all projects and provides strategic management direction.
 
Position Responsibilities:
 
  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion in overall project management to prioritize, plan and track project progress.
  • Designs, develops and modifies software engineering process to support the growth and effectiveness of the business.
  • Designs, develops and modifies software source code and contract data requirements list (CDRLs).
  • Ability to respond to an RFP (Request for Proposal), complete with deliverables, time lines, budget, etc.
  • Researches software product development options and provides analysis for product direction.
  • Consults with internal departments to identify customer needs and include into project objectives. Provides support regarding product development to internal departments.
  • Responsible for hiring, staffing, and handling all personnel issues. Provides feedback and formal performance and coaching reviews.  Trains and develops direct reports.
  • Manages and directs subcontractors. Evaluates subcontractor performance, sets expectations and goals for subcontractors.
  • Manages and directs in-house software development, growing the capability and capacity in support of business needs. 
  • Creates related documentation.
  • Performs other functions as needed to support the company’s goals.
 
Essential Skills and Experience:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software or computer engineering.
  • At least six years of experience developing software with leadership experience supporting US DoD contracts. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software quality assurance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software testing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software configuration management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software development methodologies including spiral, waterfall, and agile methodologies.  Scrum master experience preferred.
  • US Citizen required for gov’t contracts.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a security clearance.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
