Harsco Corporation, a diverse manufacturing company with operations all over the world, offers an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Manager - Environmental Sustainability and Compliance who will lead the environmental improvement and compliance efforts throughout Harsco's global operations. Reporting to the Vice President - Environmental, Health, Safety & Security, this position will provide strategic guidance to senior leadership in the areas of policy deployment, risk mitigation and management, and environmental sustainability efforts. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proven success in a dynamic, fast paced environment, show critical thinking, innovation and strategic agility in executing on multiple, complex initiatives.
As Senior Manager Environmental Compliance and Sustainability, you will manage the function through leading, mentoring, and influencing others. This hands-on role will challenge your skills in achieving Corporate objectives in a matrix organization.
In this pivotal role, you will lead the environmental committee and provide strategic direction on key environmental matters including environmental management system (EMS), sustainability, establishing key performance indicators (KPI's), tracking and reporting on progress. You'll work with the Division and Region EHS Directors and Environmental Managers to assess and assist in continuous environmental performance improvement (framework assessments, environmental sustainability footprint improvements, awareness and technical training, regulatory tracking, KPI's, etc.); collaborate across the Harsco Divisions/Regions to ensure effective knowledge sharing of environmental events and best practices (e.g., waste minimization, energy efficiency, etc); optimize the use of environmental consultants used by operations across Harsco's global operations and develop cost control methods, quality standards and scheduling requirements to ensure efficient use of environmental consultants and contractors. Requirements:About you:
You will bring a Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or similar technical field of study along with 10+ years of experience with environmental compliance assurance responsibility. Your experience must include environmental compliance responsibility for multiple plant operations and experience with multiple states. You will have global experience through working on cross-functional teams or projects involving interaction with other cultures. Your functional experience will encompass Environmental, Sustainability, and Safety in a manufacturing industry.
Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree, ideally in business, manufacturing, engineering or mining; additional years of environmental experience; environmental certifications, ISO 14001 or other EMS experience, and experience implementing environmental sustainability programs. Our ideal candidate will have experience in steel mill services or other heavy industry environment.
You must be willing and able to travel by automobile and commercial airline, both domestically and internationally.
