• Make an Impact! Monitor purchasing and utilization patterns for potential cost reduction opportunities via contracting changes or alternative products. Responsible for % of cost reductions based on contract portfolio. Negotiate contracts (including bids, RFPs, and cost analysis for supplies and services while monitoring purchasing patterns for potential cost reduction opportunities. Liaison between vendors and clinical representatives, including Physician’s. Primary coordinator with end users and Materiel Management Operations Managers in product/service specification, requirements, vendor selection, and change implementation. Provide / arrange for education for physicians and nursing personnel in the use of new products. Resolve and coordinate price reconciliation issues with vendor and Accounts Payable. Develop implementation plan for product initiatives; monitor cost savings related to product standardization. Support the management of the GPO contract portfolio. Support the management of the PeopleSoft item master file.

Experience:

 Five years hospital purchasing, and contract management experience required including experience with hospital materials management information systems, required

Competence in the development of spreadsheets required.

Clinical hospital experience preferred.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree or 10 years’ experience in hospital medical/surgical contract management, master’s degree preferred
